Local Driver Doing It in the Dirt

After a weeks delay due to weather, Wabbit Racing has claimed victory in their first event. Stephen Hyatt drove to a first place finish in Performance Frontwheel Drive.

Stephen Hyatt, of Chambersburg, PA, is campaigning the #31 VW  Golf GTI for Wabbit Racing in Sports Car Club of America's (SCCA) Rally Cross Series.

The Golf  with its front-wheel drive, is a natural for Rally Cross, the most extreme dirt motorsport in SCCA, where drivers compete on a gravel and dirt course of slaloms, turns and straights delineated by traffic cones.

Hyatt is returning to his competitive driving roots after a 20 year layoff serving in Emergency Services for Washington DC Region of SCCA.  In the 80's, he successfully  drove a Rabbit carrying the #31 in the Mid Atlantic Road Racing Series, competing at race tracks in New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.

With the support of sponsors AT SPEED SMS, MEATHEAD RACING, JOKER'S AIR ART and J&L AUTOMOTIVE ,Hyatt will race at Summit Point Motorsport Park in West Virginia and possible other venues, with an eye to expanding to the national scene next year. 

Hyatt and the #31 Wabbit Racing  will continue his points leading season at Summit Point April 17, 2010
